XDSL - mPhase (OTC:XDSL)
Yup, everyone's favorite semi-regular nanobattery pump and dump is on the move again, this time on wafer manufacturing news.
Up 35% today, thus far, it's into the 0.030's again.
Google Finance - mPhase
Cheers, Spinner

Re: mPhase (OTC:XDSL)
Well, a late day surge put this up 75% to 0.035.
Given the history, I suspect unless this is followed up quickly by more news it'll drift down into the twenties again for July before perhaps a more solid run toward the August smart grid conference. But then I've been wrong on this one before.
Cheers, Spinner

Re: mPhase (OTC:XDSL)
Well, it's drifted down into the low twenties again (0.022) so I've pulled the trigger and set a sell order for 35% up in anticipation of the next news-related pump.
Last time I did this I sold at 0.029 which was on reflection a little premature, so I've upped the sights a bit.
Cheers, Spinner

Re: mPhase (OTC:XDSL)
No-one else playing?
A fun little rollercoaster, this. My last buy was at $0.022 and we're back up to $0.0298 again today, hoping for a mid-thirties pump tomorrow (at which point I'm out again with more free shares) and another dump back down to $0.022 (at which point I'll be back in again).
The Smart Grid conference is coming up shortly, and the chairman of mPhase is on a panel with representatives from Intel and GE on August the 19th.
Regardless of the veracity of the claims about their product, and the suspect past of the CEO, I'm expecting a decent pop on that big-time exposure (but I think there's room for some more swing trading before this time next week).
Cheers, Spinner

Thanks! There's plenty of opinion around on the interwebs about this stock and it varies wildly: there's a well supported school of thought that it's run by two-bit crooks and will never amount to anything, but then there are those that insist that it's the next big thing and that their revolutionary battery is going to end up all over the Smart Grid, in every NASA rocket and Army shell. PR is traditionally poor, but there is a distinct possibility something may be pulled from the hat next week.
For what it's worth, if you're going to dabble, I'd say play for free shares, don't risk anything substantial and try not to buy unless it's at the bottom of a sell off - frequent swings (it's just as likely to collapse tomorrow as spike further but I'd like a good exit on this round so have my fingers crossed)!
Cheers, Spinner

mPhase to Discuss Its Smart NanoBattery Technology At Smart Grid Implementation Summit, August 19 in D.C.
Globe Newswire
mPhase Joins GE, Intel and Deloitte On Thought Leadership Panel
August 17, 2009: 10:00 AM ET
LITTLE FALLS, N.J., Aug. 17, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- mPhase Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:XDSL) has accepted an invitation to participate on the Thought Leadership Panel at the Smart Grid Implementation Summit on August 19 in Washington, D.C. at 8:15 AM. mPhase will use this opportunity to introduce the benefits and applications of the Smart NanoBattery as it relates to smart grid technology. In particular, extending the life of remote unattended sensor networks using smart batteries and designing power management optimization into a sensor network will be discussed.
Over sixty executives from utilities, technology providers, trade associations, and standards development organizations will be in attendance at the conference which runs from August 17-19. The conference will serve as a place to share ideas on how to create effective plans and guidelines for a standardized implementation of smart grid technology. U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu and Commerce Secretary Gary Locke are leading this year's conference.
Dr. Fred Allen is representing mPhase on the "The Future of Smart Grid Technology" panel along with Bob Gilliam, VP Energy Transmission and Distribution at GE, and Lorie Wigle, General Manager, Eco-Technology Program Office at Intel. The discussion will be moderated by Branko Terzic, Regulatory Policy Leader - Energy & Resources at Deloitte. The session will highlight some of the cutting-edge technologies that are preparing for the full scale deployment of smart grid initiatives surrounding the following topic areas: batteries and renewable energy storage, infrastructure, metering, and communications.
Said mPhase CEO Ron Durando, "A primary focus of this conference is to help develop standards for the implementation of smart grid technology. With the Smart NanoBattery, we have a potential to provide unique advantages and benefits to smart grid systems that can be adapted universally as the standard smart grid battery."
The Smart NanoBattery can be extremely effective in providing extended power to critical smart grid devices and is a "green" solution that may allow the grid to function more efficiently. The extended shelf life and usage life of the battery could significantly reduce costs associated with servicing and changing batteries that are used throughout the grids.
mPhase was invited to participate in the event because of the groundbreaking advancements made by the company in developing the Smart NanoBattery providing Power On Command(tm) that has several potential uses relating to power grid monitoring and control. Smart grids require power monitors and sensors to be located throughout the grid as a means of collecting data and transmitting information to the computer systems that manage and regulate the grid's flow of electricity. In many cases, these sensor devices will be powered by individual batteries. The mPhase Smart NanoBattery is an attractive power source that could be used to provide primary or emergency back up power to these remote sensors. In certain low power devices, the Smart NanoBattery can potentially provide continuous power for up to 20 years uninterrupted. If utilized as a reserve power source, the Smart NanoBattery would automatically begin powering the device if the primary power source failed. This could potentially reduce the possibility of a service interruption.

Re: mPhase (OTC:XDSL)
Well, it seems neither rocket nor dud at present. I guess the panel presentation didn't contain much more than that available in recent press releases (at least I've not been able to discover anything of great merit) but it did garner some temporary interest.
I sold (again) at 0.034 and I see it's just busted 0.030 on the way down. Will buy (again) at 0.023 if it gets there. Loving the 40% swings.
Cheers, Spinner

Re: XDSL - mPhase (OTC:XDSL)
Alright, I finally opened a small position with mPhase on Friday. I will probably double down if it goes to the low 20's, like you were hoping for, Spinner. Overall, I am very long on this position, but will play these pops on the way up to accumulate free shares.
Whether you are talking solar, computing, or pharmaceuticals, nanotechnology always brings the WOW-factor to me. It's simply amazing, to say the least, the scope of how small a nanometer is. A strand of hair is 150,000 nanometers in thickness. If you were 3 nanometers tall, this same strand of hair would appear to be the size of the Grand Canyon. Couple this with the constant high-demand to perfect the battery composite, this company provides the perfect combination for success. Whether or not they can pull of what they are trying to do, that's a whole other story. I think they have an excellent chance.
Global Market for Nano-Enabled Batteries to Surpass $1 Billion by 2013
Okay, this video doesn't necessarily have too much to do with batteries, but inventor, Ray Kurzweil (one of my personal heroes) has invested his efforts in nanotechology in the pharmaceutical industry and other things to come in the not-so-distant future. If he intrigues you, watch part 2 and 3.

Re: XDSL - mPhase (OTC:XDSL)
Could be a pretty big day for mPhase - Already up 9% - hoping it will climb
New press from Marketwire:
mPhase Technologies Phase II STTR Grant Program Renewed by U.S. Army Through 2010
LITTLE FALLS, NJ--(Marketwire - October 7, 2009) - mPhase Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: XDSL) announced today that their Phase II STTR Grant was renewed by the U.S. Army. The two year grant was initially awarded in September 2008 for the amount of $750,000. mPhase will continue to develop the Smart NanoBattery under this grant program through September 2010. The development goal is a small footprint, reserve style multi-cell, 3 V lithium chemistry micro-arrayed battery with a minimum of a 20-year shelf life and uninterruptible power output during this period.
The renewal of the Phase II grant represents the significant accomplishments that have been made over the last 12 months in building a functional lithium Smart NanoBattery prototype for a computer memory application. Upon a successful completion of the Phase II program, mPhase plans to enter production and commercialize their unique battery technology.
mPhase CEO Ron Durando commented on grant renewal, "I am extremely pleased that the U.S. Army has recognized the incredible strides we have made over the last 12 months. The potential for our unique technology is clear and commercialization of the Smart NanoBattery is within our grasp."
mPhase earned the STTR grant through the SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) program, a US government program concentrated on providing funds for small businesses with the potential to commercialize research and development efforts. STTR grants are available to a small percentage of small businesses that work in conjunction with university development partners. mPhase Technologies has been working with the Energy Storage Research Group (ESRG) at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, during mPhase's Phase I grant project in 2007. mPhase and Rutgers ESRG will continue to work together until the Phase II project is completed.
About mPhase Technologies, Inc. and AlwaysReady, Inc.
mPhase Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: XDSL), through its wholly owned subsidiary AlwaysReady, Inc., is focused on developing and commercializing a new battery technology based on a well-patented phenomenon known as electrowetting, which provides a unique way to store energy and manage power that will revolutionize the battery industry. No I am still in this one spinner!
I just don't want to be accused of Pumping it, Get it Pumping it! LOL
I bought a lot in early spring, I took a big block of FREE SHARES and after a while decided ChuckD was likely right the Pump & Dump ways from this CEO could resurface and is in question. So I took $500.00 in profits and just kept 2200 shares for the true long haul!
But I am still a holder. Maybe to 2015 or so huh!

Re: XDSL - mPhase (OTC:XDSL)
Good call Trants, I just need one more bump to $0.028 and I'm out with 7000 free shares.
Shame that didn't happen today with the Army grant but I think people are getting bored with all the fluff PR that gets pushed out every week, so I may have to settle for $0.025 and 6000 free shares instead. I think that'll be my last play with this stock, returns are diminishing.
( 10k filed today if you're interested)
Cheers, Spinner

Re: XDSL - mPhase (OTC:XDSL)
News (and thus movement) has been thin on the ground of late so little opportunity to play, however there was a bump yesterday and I sold my most recent 0.023 shares for 0.026 (not a big gain, granted, but there's been so little action on this recently I thought I'd bank the rise).
Have kept a token 5k free. Might buy another 20k block if it gets back down to .022-.023 in the next few trading days because there's likely to be another jump around January 6th.
Note: they are always coming out with press releases - they have an awesome PR fluff machine - so this is not as impressive as it sounds. However, at least they might have some photos of a product this time so there's probably a good opportunity to exit coming up if you're in from the low 20s.

Ha! Yeah, that's a great exit, but my sell triggered at .30. I'm still a happy camper though.
